A business graduate turned data engineer.
Background
I started in business — a Bachelor of Commerce (International Business) — and pursued my MBA at INTI College Subang in collaboration with Coventry University, UK, while working as a Management Associate at a Singapore-based startup.
When my Management Trainee contract at Huawei Malaysia wrapped up in 2021, I made the jump to data. In August 2021 I enrolled in the MSc Data Science and Business Analytics program at Asia Pacific University (APU) full-time.
The Pivot
The COVID-19 pandemic reshaped both how I learned and how I worked. My Diploma and Degree happened on campus; halfway through my MBA, classes moved fully online — Webex and Moodle overnight. The MSc was largely remote too, mostly over Microsoft Teams.
Same story at work. Most of 2021 was work-from-home. Hybrid arrangements followed when restrictions eased. I’ve now worked fully physical, fully remote, and everything in between — turns out the routine matters less than the communication tooling.
